I'Chelmee

I'Chelmee

Further prove that The Social Misfits are truly out to represent on a universal level comes in the presence of I'Chelmee (pronounced Eye-Shell-Me). The French, Creole and English speaking emcee was born in a small South-American Island called Guadeloupe. He immigrated to Europe in the mid-Nineties and has a home in both Paris and South-East London.

He was initially linked with Social Misfits about two years ago when he made a guest appearance alongside Shiesty and Ezeks (of Da-Essence) on 'Suicidal Danger / Character Assasination”. Since then he has been making additional contributions and eventually enquired about fully enrolling with a crew he knew was aiming for big things. His credible natural talent, international appeal and hardworking nature were the main reasons he was welcomed to become an official member of the Social Misfits. He has not only taken great advantage of the resources and in-house talent that the all-star crew are able to offer but the multi-lingual emcee has also been able to provide the collective with additional ingredients to their universal sound as well as further understanding of breaking into some of the overseas markets he has resided in and is equally responsible for spreading our efforts in these regions.

The softly spoken I'Chelmee claims to have, “lyrics ready to go”. In addition to various cameo features he contributed two outstanding solo joints on the Social Misfits collaboration album, one for the ladies entitled “Message to Memory” and another for everyone else called “Ghetto Specialist”. Message to Memory is a lovely but gritty track about a broken down relationship where he questions himself about the possibility of rekindling his lost love and whether the sacrifices he has to make a worthwhile. The verses on this are in French whilst the sensual female backing-vocals are in English. The second track is over a rugged bouncy-beat and is entitled Ghetto Specialist. Though it is entirely in a mixture of French and Creole his vibe really comes through on his recordings thus making you wish you had paid more interest during your foreign languages lesson back in school.

In addition to hip-hop the versatile I'Chelmee is also very much into reggae music and plays acoustic bass guiter for a local live-dub band. His main ambition is to progress further into the music industry and become internationally successful, especially in Europe and his South American hometown in Guadeloupe.

You definitely should be on the look-out for what I'Chelmee has forthcoming. He has began working towards finishing his album, currently entitled LONDON-PARIS-GUADELOUPE, which he hopes will hit the streets in the second-quarter of 2001. However you need not wait that long to hear more from him as his multi-lingual lyrical skills appear to be in more demand than Linguphone tapes and thus been has blessing various forthcoming Social Misfit releases with his foreign vocabulary.
