Sir Prestige is the principal producer and founding director of
Social Misfit Entertainment. He
discovered hip-hop during the break-dancing era of the early 1980’s and has
remained truly true to this musical art-form since first hearing it during his
pre-teenage years on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya where he was born and raised.
His
interest into musical production was a natural progression from Djing at
youth-clubs, house-parties and local night-spots. After graduating at London’s
Southbank University he abandoned his post-graduate qualifications to pursue his
long-time interest in the music industry. In January 1998 he formed Social
Misfit Entertainment to capitalise on his production skills and help nature the
wealth of potential talent that he had seen around his surrounding environment.
That
same year he produced and released the label’s
debut - which also featured former Social Misfit Chris Smoove,
EP entitled “I know That”. The general success of this release gave
him the confidence to pursue his musical interests with serious intent and also
set the foundations for Social Misfit Entertainment. Production and Executive
direction of several releases since have not only earned him a credible reputation as
a good producer but also demonstrated his other talents and interest, artist
development and management.
“Sir Prestige
presents… The Social Misfits: The Society Documented [Programme One and Two”]
is his current and most ambitious project. The much acclaimed Social Misfits 40
track double-CD album - which he produced in entirety,
creatively illustrates his versatile productions and his uniquely
universal sound. The album has further engraved his named amongst the best
hip-hop producers in the UK and its acclaim has further elaborated on his
entrepreneurial executive skills.
His
busy schedule also includes production and executive direction for each
individual Social Misfit artist. In addition to the many ongoing Social Misfit
projects he has contributed his talents on various other third-party projects.
