Da-Essence are an exciting four piece hip-hop outfit comprising of Ace, Roach, Juicy and Ezeks. The group, whose average is 18, was formed through friendship in their early school days nearly four years ago and the group's name is an acronym for
The long-awaited availability of their epic street-album certainly propelled this promising young group
to new heights and they have continued to enjoy radio airplay on various hip-hop shows in the UK and continuos press coverage. Commenting on their debut album the South-London based group claim that,
"This first instalment is just a taste of what Da-Essence is all about; creativity, versatility and originality".
Whilst it may just be a glimpse into their creative super-minds it is certainly evident on hearing it that they have definitely gone the full distant in demonstrating their uniqueness and proved they have all the essential credentials to really blow up on an international scale! There debut long-player makes it clearly apparent that the group wishes to embrace a broad sector of the hip-hop community. In their own words they all agree that, "There is definitely something in the street-album for everyone, no matter your taste in hip-hop".
Prior to recording the group had already paid dues on the underground circuit and already enjoyed some initial success, i.e. winning talent shows and demo competitions, radio airplay, performing at London venues like Hackney Empire, Dingwalls, etc., and have also been scheduled to appear at a major hip-hop show in Kenya (East Africa) early 2000. Production duties throughout this project are handled by the credible and talented Social Misfit Entertainment production team and the group also played an active part in its creation and direction.
