The deferred Chris Smoove has taken a hiatus back-seat to casually work on his solo effort whilst Prestige has now retracted to fully concentrate on advancing the talents of Social Misfit Entertainment.
The success of their initial collaboration release, an EP entitled "I KNOW THAT", led to Social Misfit Entertainment securing a distribution deal with BMG. They were featured on countless interviews and/or reviews in nearly every domestic magazine that features hip-hop including leading urban music publications like Hip-Hop Connection, Touch, Muzik, DJ, Fatboss, Blues & Soul, etc. They have performed in many venues around the United Kingdom and in March last year they even headlined a successful tour in East Africa to audiences of over 5000.
Their six-track CD is a peoplesound.com exclusive and features vocal tracks from their critically acclaimed debut 1999 EP (I Know That, Home Truths and True Lies) and brand new recordings from their untitled and unreleased millennium follow-up maxi-single (Show Some Love, Show Some Respect and I Know That Remix). At only £3.99 that's two EPs for less than the price of a single.
The featured original version of I KNOW THAT did very well with club DJs and the more soulful Sir Prestige remix, featuring fellow peoplesound.com signed artists Da-Essence alongside feisty female emcee Tammy J, is aptly geared for radio and the R&B sector.
SHOW SOME LOVE is a very well produced composition over an enticing music backdrop with some vicious lyrics delivered in a very relaxed way. Its sequel, once again reconstructed by Sir Prestige, SHOW SOME RESPECT is layered with a more fitting haunting theme. Listen out for the Swahili sample that translates to the Social Misfits motto, "Either you with us or against us, and if you ain't with us you are about to get taken out!" - and, this phrase explains exactly what both these tracks are all about.
HOME TRUTHS is their other underground gem that truly meets the criteria for those who like their hip-hop hard and undiluted and it demonstrates the duo's versatile ability. TRUE LIES is one of those tracks that could wear out your rewind button, or icon. The gripping cinemascope theme has been expertly woven by one of the UK's most talented hip-hop beat-smith, Sir Prestige, whilst Chris Smoove exposes some questionable revelations for listeners to ponder what is truthful and what is not - can you figure out the status of the controversial last verse? If you listen to the track throughout and the announcement at the end of that verse you should have strong evidence for whatever your opinion is.
